Eating Art

Historically, food has always been an inspiration in art. In recent years, a trend has emerged called “deconstructive cuisine” in which we identify the main player as the Catalan Ferran Adrià. This chef and artist considers food the object and subject of his work, which then becomes much more than food.  It becomes an artistic representation.

Històricament el menjar sempre ha estat una font d’inspiració en l’art. Aquests últims anys ha sorgit la corrent culinària denominada deconstructiva en la que identifiquem com a principal estandart el català Ferran Adrià. El cuiner i artista, converteix el menjar en objecte i subjecte de l’obra, essent més que un aliment, essent també una representació artística.

I highlight the role of industrial design which, in addition to careful presentation, functions as much more than a support: the use of utensils that are more typical of a laboratory and adapting them to the kitchen, descotextualizing elements, as well as reinventing new spoons that apart from being functional tools also become vehicles of sensations, aromas, tastes, smells and textures.

M’agradaria destacar el paper que juga el disseny industrial en tot això, que a més d’encarregar-se de cuidar la presentació, pretén ser molt més que un suport: funcionalitza estris que són més propis d’un laboratori i els adapta a la cuina, descotextualitza elements, com també reinventa noves culleres que a part de ser un instrument també són un mitjà vehiculitzador de sensacions, aromes, gustos, olors i textures.
