Alejandra Solar

Alejandra Solar is a Mexican jeweler who has studied at Massana School in Barcelona and who now lives in Luxemburg. Currently she is participating in the Schmuck fair where Mexico, Turkey and China are represented for the first time.

L’Alejandra Solar és una joiera mexicana que després de passar uns anys a Barcelona, va estudiar a l’Escola Massana, s’ha instal·lat a Luxemburg. Durant aquests dies participa a la fira Schmuck on per primera vegada Mèjic, Turquia i China hi són representats.

Her statement / Les seves paraules:
Throughout my creative process I continually gather images from the mundane. I select some of these characters, landscapes, and objects to become part of a different story in an imaginary world.  By removing these elements from their original context, altering and playing with them, I find surprising, and unexpected connections between them and their new environment, the stories start over, the ordinary and familiar become uncanny and strange. Themes of death, religion, fantasy and fiction emerge, and become great sources of inspiration.

A lo largo de mi proceso creativo hago una continua recolección de imágenes del mundo cotidiano. Selecciono algunos de estos personajes, paisajes y objetos para formar parte de una historia diferente en un mundo imaginario. Desprendiendo estos elementos de su contexto original, alterando su forma y jugando con ellos encuentro conexiones sorprendentes e inesperadas entre ellos y su nuevo entorno, las historias comienzan de nuevo, lo común y familiar se transforma en extraño y asombroso. Temas de muerte, religión, fantasía y ficción surgen continuamente y se convierten en grandes fuentes de inspiración.
