Her statement / Les seves paraules:
Jewelry series The Architect Who Faced His Jardin Intérieur
Jardin intérieur = French for interior garden – the private landscape in our mind.
Like an architect discovering he’d actually like to be gardener or landscape artist and begins erasing the moments of separation where architecture ends and nature takes over, letting architectural forms and natural elements like plants and gardens trespass and intermingle.
The use of stained and unstained bone china porcelain and natural stones together with tiny pearls, synthetic material or encrusted them with glass grain granulate blend the naturally occurring and the consciously added. Glass granulate has the brilliance of a crystal druse, the lushness of caviar, and the freshness of morning dew.
I see the diversity of materials and forms in this series like layered impressions of an extended travel log. In my frequent travels pops out the excited tension I feel of leaving behind my ‘safe’ haven of home, discovering new impressions, and returning home to the familiar with a head full of fresh perceptions. All the while this sharpens my own connection to the intimate sheltering space of home that seems to unite known with unknown. Surrendering to the new, returning and looking at things from a new vantage point leaves its influence in the work, and is all the while connected to an intimate and safe space where all kinds of contradictions can exist together side by side and within each other.
