Last summer, Enric Majoral spoke to me enthusiastically about his new project creating jewelry inspired by dishes of El Celler de Can Roca. This restaurant, located in Girona, is one of the best in the world. Joan Roca and his brothers Josep and Jordi have made contributions to a new way of understanding cooking that respects traditional cooking but with an unconventional twist. Their goal is to make new discoveries with products that were considered unworthy in gastronomy.
You can now see the results of this project at the hotel Cap de Barbaria in Formentera. Figurative elements are emphasized in the jewelry — we can easily recognize some cooked dishes. The precise compositions are full of color and small shapes that overlap and intersect. The pieces must be viewed carefully, paying attention to the small details. Contrasts, textures and volumes accentuate their meaning. It’s a pleasure to see the entire collection — delicious food converted into precious jewels.
